The Demons as they appear in series 11 onwards.

The Demons are usually the evil servants of Nevar. Most Demons are equipped with a touch and stare, both of which can banish warriors. They will do anything it takes to stop the warriors and Raven. Once, they were men, like Nevar, who were cursed, along with their master, when he exploited the power of his staff. However, Ervan implies that they are the "half-dead".

Appearances[]

The Demons always appear as hooded figures, dressed in uniform hooded cowls, similar to monks, arranged so that nearly nothing of them can be seen, including faces. However, over the duration of the show, the general colour of their cowls has varied.

For the first ten seasons, as well as Raven: The Secret Temple and Raven: The Dragon's Eye, the Demons are mostly dressed in brown. In Raven: The Island, the Demons' cowls are dark blue. For series 11 onwards, the Demons all dress in black. On some occasions, such as in Raven: The Secret Temple, the demons also wear a rope belt around their waists.

The Fire Demon

Fire Demon (Fire Demon)[]

Fire demons are demons which have the ability to summon and control fire. In the challenge Fire Demon, they are able to control a ball of flames by waving their arms. Fire demons appear similar to normal demons.

Thrall Demons (Thrall Threads)[]

A Thrall Demon

Thrall demons are blind and cannot see or sense those around them, therefore they create traps to ensnare warriors by setting up Thrall Threads. These are fine, intertwined strings with bells attached - the ringing of a thrall bell is the only sound this demon can hear. Therefore, if a warrior sounds one while traversing the threads, the Thrall Demon will be able to eliminate them.

Ghost Demon (Burning Battlements, season 3)[]

A Stone Demon

Water Demons (Water Demon)[]

The Water Demon is one which uses its skill with a boat to attempt to trap warriors. It dwells by the water and as soon as it detects a warriors presence, it will paddle to reach them. If its boat touches that of a warrior, the warrior will be vanquished.

Stone Demons (Millstone Towers)[]

Stone demons are similar to normal demons, except they generally dwell in stony places.

Wood Demons (Dark Path)[]

A Wood Demon

Wood demons are similar to normal demons, except they dwell in woods and forests, often patrolling these areas for warriors on behalf of Nevar. Wood demons are also featured in Raven: The Island where they patrol the forests of the Island of Alaunus and often disrupt challenges, having been alerted to the warriors presence, meaning the warriors must leave empty-handed.

Black Demon (Demon Army)[]

Black demons are similar to standard demons, however, after being vanquished by a warrior, they are able to regenerate. These can be distinguished from normal demons as they wear a black cloak, rather than brown, hence their name.

Blind Demons (Nevar's Eye)[]

These are Demons which guard Nevar's Eye, a device he uses to spy on the warriors which is linked to his All Seeing Eye. They have been blinded by the Eye itself which has the ability to blind any mortal with its fiery gaze.

The Eyeless Demons (The Eyeless Demons)[]

Eyeless Demons are similar to Thrall Demons in that they cannot see but their hearing is very acute. They are armed with deadly battle-axes (death staffs in Series 1) so if they are roused by the sound of a bell or a warrior walking by, they will swing their axes in an effort to vanquish the warrior who disturbed them.

Spin-offs[]

In Raven: The Secret Temple and Raven: The Dragon's Eye, not only are Nevar's standard demons featured, but Spirit Guards and associated demons are also featured which are different, despite playing a similar role in challenges.

In The Secret Temple, Nevar uses a number of fake Demons to trick Raven into thinking he has a bigger army than he really does. The fake Demons look similar to normal Demons, but when their hoods are removed, it is shown that they are simply wooden sticks, with watermelons on top to simulate the shape of the head. The fake Demons have no offensive power, but Raven, for whatever reason, cannot destroy them.
