Raven: The Dragon's Eye is a CBBC children's adventure game show, and the third (and currently, final) spin-off to the main series, Raven.

It comprises one series, which aired first on the CBBC Channel. In this series, warriors compete as teams and attempt to collect as many stones as possible by completing fourteen tasks, so that they may enter The Forgotten Kingdom, and find The Dragon's Eye, in order to destroy it.

Plot[]

9C02AEBF-BA25-4430-B4F0-9C1A9BF2DF23

The Dragon's Eye in all its evil glory.

Raven's homeland has been freed from Nevar's 'icy curse' by the mystical water brought back from the Secret Temple by Raven and Sonro (champion of Raven: The Secret Temple). Nevar, thought to be killed when the Temple collapsed, survived and has returned, planning a terrible revenge. He seeks the Dragon's Eye, a magical stone of such power that it is said to corrupt all those that try to claim it as their own. So Raven brings another troop of sixteen warriors to the Great Forest, there to undergo a series of trials held by the tree spirits to see which of them are worthy to proceed through a portal into the Forgotten Kingdom, there to reach the Castle of Shadows and retrieve the Eye so Raven can destroy it before it fell into the hands of Nevar. Nevar is following Raven and his warriors, and attempting to end Raven's quest. Ervan, a woodsman of the forest, plays a role in sabotaging the quest, he hopes to gain both Raven's and Nevar's trust so they will destroy each other and Ervan can claim the Eye as his own. Ervan used to serve Nevar, when he was still human, before Nevar and his men were cursed by the staff Nevar stole from the Great Oak (as explained in Raven the Island).

Characters[]

Teams and Warriors[]

Like in Raven: The Island, and Raven: The Secret Temple, the troop of sixteen warriors is divided into teams of four, each consisting of two boys and two girls, except for the Wolves, who had three girls and one boy in the team. Similar to TST, there were four teams, rather than RTI's three teams.

The leaders were shown to be decided by two trials on the first day; all four would play one game, with the two winners playing a further game (usually involving a weapon) (see below). The warrior who won both challenges would become the team leader. The stones the warriors sought in challenges were able to return warriors - if a warrior were to be lost in a challenge, eight of these stones would be forfeited to bring them back. If the warrior lost again, or if the team didn't want to them back, or they didn't have enough reward stones, they couldn't be brought back, then or at any other point. As the reward stones were all sacrificed prior to The Torrent challenge, any warrior lost from that point on would not be able to be brought back.

Otters (wore blue)[]

Notable for being the first entire team to survive the entirety of the first leg of the quest in a spin-off (The Spirit Trials in this particular spin-off). They had real TST Panthers energy, as they were all good warriors but had a bad leader and tended to squabble about it.

  • Halsem - Charlie Smith (Leader) - He eventually placed 8th.
  • Arkil - Harriet "Harri" Killick - She went on to win the show, also holding the distinction of never getting eliminated at all.
  • Vesak - Jake Iveson - He ended up placing 6th.
  • Kasha - Hannah Takahashi - She ended up finishing in 7th.

Wolves (TDE) (wore red)[]

Probably the most competent team in TDE who worked the best together.

  • Lemec - Amelia Welch (Leader) - She finished in 4th place. She became leader of the elite warriors during the finale, and holds the distinction of being the only 'disabled' warrior in the spinoffs, due to her having a deformed hand.
  • Arros - Simon Curran - He ended up placing 9th.
  • Cermal- Emma Calvert - The least remembered warrior of TDE due to not having much screen-time. She was lost in the second spirit trial, being lost at the Thrall Threads, along with fellow warrior, and leader Lemec. The wolves decided not to bring her back, in favour of bringing back leader Lemec (they did not have enough stones to bring back both warriors), meaning Cermal ultimately placed 16th Overall.

  • Hareb - Phoebe Howard - She ended up finishing in 2nd place.

Eagles (TDE) (wore yellow)[]

The fan favourite team - they clearly had issues at the start but all grew as people and became closer and more loyal.

  • Varan - Brogan Evans (Leader) - She ended up placing 5th.
  • Ahrdin - Lisa Hardin - She finished in 14th.
  • Gydan - Aidan Donaghey - He ended up finishing in 3rd place.
  • Kelin - Sam Kinley - Kelin had real Marca from TST vibes - he was a bit self-serving and bossy and despite losing the leadership challenge, still believed he would have been the best leader for the team. He criticised Varan and was not particularly kind to her, despite her being a good leader. Varan was more loyal to him, however, as after he struggled at the Thrall Threads because of his height and was eliminated, Varan elected to bring him back. Though he sometimes let arrogance get in his way, he was a strong warrior and grew to respect Varan and his team more throughout the quest. Kelin finished in 13th place.

Bears (wore green)[]

Notable for being the first entire team to be eliminated before the final stretch of the quest, ironically being in the lead at the point where they all perished.

  • Larim - Milo Clarke (Leader) - He finished in joint 10th place with Nardel.
  • Janot - Benjamin "Ben" Aston - Possibly the Tibor of this series. He ended up finishing in 15th.
  • Miran - Erinna Harvey-Jamieson - She finished in 12th place.
  • Nardel - Helen Richardson - She ended up placing joint 10th alongside Larim.

Leadership trials[]

Otters[]

  • Ring Line: The warriors have a spiked ball-on chain that they must swing through elevated rings to reach the end of the course. Arkil and Halsem advanced to the second challenge, being the only two in contention in this challenge, as Kasha and Vesak lagged far behind.
  • Symbol Square: For Arkil and Halsem, the next trial they were required to complete was to run and collect puzzle pieces and bring them back to a square podium, where they must complete a 3x3 puzzle. Halsem completed the puzzle first, making Halsem the leader of the Otters.

Wolves[]

  • Pennant Run: The warriors must run and jump over wooden hurdles to collect pennants of their assigned colour. However, not all pennants have been cut to the same length, and must be arranged so they rest in the flag-poles at the same level. Lemec and Hareb advanced to the second challenge, with all of the wolves aside from Cermal finishing close together.
  • Spear Strike: For Lemec and Hareb, the next trial they were required to complete was to throw spears at hanging sandbags, attempting to pierce them. The first to hit all three would become the leader of the Wolves. Lemec hit all three bags and Hareb hit two, making Lemec the leader of the Wolves.

Eagles[]

  • Sheild Race: The warriors must flip their shield through the obstacle course to the end, placing the shield in the stand they will find there. Kelin and Varan advanced the second challenge, with Kelin placing far ahead of his fellow warriors, with the other three finishing the course close behind each other.
  • Shape Build: For Kelin and Varan, the next trial they were required to undertake was to complete a puzzle after running to collect wooden puzzle pieces, and fit them into the frame to fill it and create a certain shape. Varan completed the puzzle first, making her the leader of the Eagles.

Bears[]

  • Barrel Roll: The warriors must steer a barrel between posts, following their coloured arrows atop the posts, to the end of the course, rolling their barrels up the ramps and through a barricade. Nardel and Larim advanced to the second challenge; however, all of the Bears were close to the finish.
  • Shot Hurl: For Nardel and Larim, the next trial they were required to complete, was that they must use catapults to hit three targets, the first to hit all three would become the leader of the Bears. Larim hit all three and Nardel didn't hit any, making Larim the leader of the Bears.

The Spirit Trials[]

Before the warriors can enter the Forgotten Kingdom, they must complete a series of challenges devised by the tree spirits of the forest, to ensure they are worthy for the tree spirits to open up the portal leading to the Forgotten Kingdom to the warriors.

On their first evening in the forest, the new leaders (Halsem, Lemec, Varan and Larim) were presented with six reward stones each. In each spirit trial, each team could win up to a maximum of a further four reward stones. If a warrior was taken during the spirit trials, the team could give Raven eight reward stones to buy them back. This was granted once to each warrior. At the end of the trials, the team with the most stones would be allowed to bypass The Torrent, at which point each team would surrender their reward stones, so nobody could be brought back in the final leg of the quest.

Archer's Aim, Catapult Drop, The Chest, Magnetic Maze and (presumably) The Climb and White Water were all challenges where warriors could not get eliminated.

Accuracy[]

Archers' Aim[]

The warriors must take turns shooting arrows at four targets, each holding a stone in a baggy underneath; however, this challenge is timed, as spirit guards will advance on the warriors as they shoot. When the guards get near them, they must leave the challenge, whether they have gained stones or not. Unlike similar challenges in The Island and The Secret Temple, these targets do not open and close.

  • Otters: Day 3
  • Eagles: Day 15
  • Wolves: Day 13
  • Bears: Day 10

Catapult Drop[]

The warriors must aim a giant catapult at cages atop poles which contain stones in baggies. Though this challenge is untimed, the warriors have limited ammunition.

  • Otters: Day 6
  • Eagles: Day 7
  • Wolves: Day 14
  • Bears: Day 12

Agility[]

Cursed Earth[]

The warriors must use giant bales to navigate their way over cursed ground, collecting stone baggies along the way, some of which are empty. If warriors place a bale outside the perimeter (marked by a rope on the ground), it will be confiscated by the tree spirits, along with the warrior if they are on it at the time. Furthermore, if a warrior touches the floor or does not make it out within the time limit, they will also be eliminated.

  • Otters: Day 4
  • Eagles: Day 6
  • Wolves: Day 15
  • Bears: Day 14

Thrall Threads[]

The warriors must carefully pass through a network of wires strung across their path. However, the wires have bells attached to them. If a warrior touches a wire, in turn causing the bells attached to ring, the tree spirits at the edges of the game will wake from their deep slumber and eliminate the warrior who woke them up. The leather baggies containing reward stones are strung in corners of the game, or in hard-to-reach areas, delicately attached to the wires.

  • Otters: Day 5
  • Eagles: Day 8
  • Wolves: Day 3
  • Bears: Day 7
Eliminations[]
Cursed Earth[]
  • Arros and Hareb (Wolves). Hareb was brought back, Arros wasn't.
  • Larim, Miran and Nardel (Bears). None could be brought back, as the whole team was eliminated.
Thrall Threads[]

Unlike The Island and The Secret Temple, no team tried Thrall Threads and survived completely intact, regard to warrior and stone numbers.

  • Halsem (Otters), who was brought back.
  • Cermal and Lemec (Wolves). Lemec was brought back, Cermal wasn't, as the team only had enough stones to return one warrior, and also presumably because Lemec was the leader.
  • Kelin (Eagles), who was brought back.
  • Janot (Bears), who couldn't be brought back as he'd already been eliminated (see below).

Courage[]

The Descent[]

The warriors must abseil down a cliff face, into a boat, collecting jewels as they go. If any warrior falls or refuses to abseil, they will be eliminated.

  • Otters: Day 13
  • Eagles: Day 10
  • Wolves: Day 4
  • Bears: Day 15 (not completed)

Rope Reach[]

One at a time, the warriors must make their way across a river using a tightrope and hanging ropes to support themselves, collecting stones along the way if they wish. One warrior in each team must descend a ladder to the surface of the river to collect the hardest stone. If a warrior falls into the river or refuses to do the challenge, they will be eliminated. The hardest stone must be collected above all.

  • Otters: Day 12
  • Eagles: Day 14
  • Wolves: Day 7
  • Bears: Day 9
Eliminations[]
The Descent[]

N/A

Rope Reach[]
  • Kelin (Eagles), who couldn't be brought back as he'd already been eliminated (see above). He tried to retrieve the ladder stone and fell into the river.

Leadership[]

Magnetic Maze[]

A large wooden maze confronts the warriors. The leader must guide their team (who can't see the maze as they are underneath it) to use their magnets to guide the reward stones to the centre of the maze to retrieve them. The stones are in dishes, one in each corner of the maze. The warriors are timed; if the hourglass runs dry, any and all reward stones left in the maze will disappear.

  • Otters: Day 8
  • Eagles: Day 4
  • Wolves: Day 9
  • Bears: Day 2

White Water[]

The warriors are all in a large boat and are hurled by vicious water downstream. The leader must attempt to direct their team to control and steer the boat to collect the three reward stones along the rapids, then to s cliff face where a warrior must use a rope to climb up the cliff face to retrieve the final reward stone.

  • Otters: Day 7
  • Eagles: Day 11
  • Wolves: Day 2
  • Bears: Day 3

Strength[]

The Chest[]

The warriors must push a large chest using logs towards keys hung on poles, similar to the Battering Ram challenge in the regular Raven series. The keys unlock small doors on the chest which contain stones. This challenge is timed - if the warriors run out of time, the chest will disappear, regardless of their stone count.

  • Otters: Day 14
  • Eagles: Day 5
  • Wolves: Day 6
  • Bears: Day 11

River Rope[]

The warriors are confronted with a raging river, with two rope paths strung across it. One crosses a slow-moving area of water, whilst the other crosses a faster stretch of the drink. One at a time, the warriors must use a coracle to cross the river, taking either the easy or hard route according to preferences or a pre-made decision, collecting the reward stone baggies along the way (there are two baggies on each path). However, if a warrior lets go of the rope and drifts too far away, the spirit standing on the bank will eliminate them.

Eliminations[]
The Chest[]

N/A

River Rope[]

Ahrdin (Eagles), who was not brought back, despite the team having enough reward stones to do so.

Speed[]

The Climb[]

The warriors must climb up a sheer cliff face, collecting stone baggies as they go. This climb is timed, however, and if the warriors run out of time, the stones that remain will disappear.

  • Otters: Day 11
  • Eagles: Day 15
  • Wolves: Day 12
  • Bears: Day 4

Long Boards[]

As a team, the warriors must paddle longboards out to pontoons where stones can be collected. If they fail to make it back to the bank with a stone before the time limit has elapsed, they will be eliminated by the spirit on the bank.

  • Otters: Day 10
  • Eagles: Day 13
  • Wolves: Day 8
  • Bears: Day 5
Eliminations[]
The Climb[]

N/A

Long Boards[]
  • Janot (Bears), who was brought back.

Wisdom[]

Letter Path[]

The warriors are posed four questions. One of them must step onto a letter, and they are asked a question to do with nature, whose answer begins with the letter stepped on; for example, if the letter they are stood in is 'C', and the question is "My needle points North", the answer is "compass". The team can help, but for each question they get wrong, a reward stone disappears from the altar at the end of the path. Once the path has been laid out, the rest of the team must follow to the end, though not having to answer questions again.

  • Otters: Day 9
  • Eagles: Day 2
  • Wolves: Day 11
  • Bears: Day 6

Puzzle Count[]

The warriors are posed four mathematical questions, each with a numerical answer. They must step on stones with different numbers on them to make the total - white stones add to their total whereas red stones subtract. For every mistake made, a stone is lost. This would later inspire the main series challenge Roman Road.

  • Otters: Day 2
  • Eagles: Day 9
  • Wolves: Day 5
  • Bears: Day 8

Elimination Challenge[]

The remaining warriors declared their final stone totals and the warriors lost from their team:

Otters Eagles Wolves Bears
34 stones 39 stones 24 stones n/a
Halsem

Arkil

Kasha

Vesak

Varan

Gydan

Ahrdin

Kelin

Lemec

Hareb

Arros

Cermal

LarimJanot

Miran

Nardel

As the Eagles had gained the most stones, they were allowed to pass into the Forgotten Kingdom and were therefore exempt from the elimination challenge.

The Torrent[]

The remaining warriors faced one final challenge which would allow some to join the Eagles in the next stage of the quest. The warriors were to make their way up a river, against the current, climb a waterfall and finally slide into a small pool, where a touchstone was located which would transport them to the forgotten kingdom. As the Otters came in second, they would have a head start on this challenge with the Wolves beginning after them.

Arkil of the Otters was first to reach the touchstone, followed by both Hareb and Lemec of the Wolves, who despite starting second, came in second and third places respectively. Vesak of the Otters was the final warrior to reach the touchstone and the remaining warriors, Halsem and Kasha of the Otters, were eliminated by the Spirit Lord as the quota of six warriors for the elite team had been reached.

There was some controversy surrounding this challenge, as Kasha was eliminated a little unfairly. Halsem had told Kasha that only one person could climb the waterfall at a time, and as Lemec was climbing in front of her, she waited. This allowed Halsem and Vesak to catch up and Vesak started climbing at the same time as Lemec, leading to him going through to the next stage of the quest when it probably should have been Kasha as she was in front.

Forgotten Kingdom Challenges (Day 16 to Day 18)[]

Leadership Challenges (Day 16)[]

After the elite team of six warriors go through the portal into the Forgotten Kingdom, they are met with a group of feral former warriors trapped in the forgotten kingdom as they failed to reach the stone, now destined to remain in the Kingdom forever. They are 'saved' by Ervan, who decides to arrange leadership challenges to keep the warriors occupied while Raven is distracted by a false trail laid for him, supposedly to his death. After each challenge, the two warriors who did the worst would not progress to the next.

Ervan explains that although the warriors are the elites, they still require a leader, and the only fair way to decide it is with three trials.

  • Long Throw - The warriors get two attempts to throw a javelin as far as they can, and a javelin strike will only count if the spear enters the ground, point first. Varan and Vesak threw theirs the shortest distance so they did not progress to the next leadership challenge.
  • Rock Range - The four remaining warriors each throw three rocks at a round rope target on the ground a short distance away. The two warriors who throw their rocks closest to the centre of the target would progress, whilst those outside the target do not count. In this case, Lemec and Gydan did the best so they went forward to the final challenge.
  • Combat Ring - The two remaining warriors must attempt to grab the cloth tied to the back of the other warrior's belt. This challenge was a best of three. Lemec won this challenge, earning the leadership of the elite team.

After the trials had completed, the feral leader presents the warriors with a diary, written by someone who had faced the trials before them. The warriors are then tricked into entering a hut, under the pretence of sleep, and once inside, the ferals attack. The warriors are saved by Raven, who reveals that he stopped following the fake path, due to it being laid in such a poor way, and threatens, rather savagely, to kill Ervan if his warriors are not let out at once. Ervan surrenders, the warriors are let out, and he promptly flees. Raven then threatens the feral leader never to cross his path again.

Day 17[]

  • River Raft - Using a crossbow and arrows that are armed with hooks, the warriors must snag and drag a boat floating on the river to the shore. Hareb was first to shoot and managed to snag a hooked arrow to a large ragged cloth on the boat. However, when the other warriors were pulling it to shore, it got stuck to a nearby tree and the arrow came off. Varan was next to fire; however, her arrow fell into the river. Vesak took the next shot and managed to pierce the arrow through a hole in the cloth, dislodging the boat from the tree and getting it to shore.
  • River Escape - The warriors are instructed to ride the boat downstream and grab onto a ladder which touches the water. The warriors must then secure the boat and climb up the ladder and use a wire across the river to move themselves up to the bank, one at a time. However, if a warrior falls out of the boat and drifts too far away, the guard on the bank will kill them. Lemec managed to grab the ladder and secure it to the boat. Unfortunately, whilst the others successfully left the boat, Vesak fell into the river and was killed by the guard.
  • Shuttle Line - Now back on dry land, the five warriors must cross the river again, discovering from the diary that they are on the wrong bank. They must build a zipline correctly and use it to cross to the other side; if they fall into the river, they will die.
  • Demon Shields - The warriors discover five metal shields, each atop a large wooden structure, into which they must slot wooden blocks, to eventually dislodge the shield and allow it to float down to their grasp. They must then unclip their shield and use it to protect themselves against the gaze of two guards watching them. Varan only just escaped this challenge at the end.

Day 18[]

  • Demon Trap - The diary reveals that the path ahead is riddled with quicksand, meaning the warriors have no choice but to go by water. There are long boards and paddles provided for them. However, even going by water is not risk-free, as guards in boats constantly patrol the lake. Varan failed in this challenge, as she was the last to get to the water, and couldn't keep up; the guards' boat hit her board, eliminating her.
  • Buried Treasure - Using symbols found in the journal, the warriors must dig underneath a series of matching stones placed on a sandy beach to find treasure which will be essential to the completion of the quest. However, they must be quick as there are demons approaching nearby. The treasure retrieved in this challenge were four blank pieces of parchment.
  • Magic Potion - The warriors must collect blocks scattered around a river area and stack them up so that one among their number can climb to retrieve a potion hanging from a tree. When the potion is poured on the parchment retrieved in the previous challenge, it reveals a map to the Castle of Shadows.
  • Golden Portal - The warriors must decipher a riddle inscribed on a stone in runes using a rune guide in the journal. When the correct answer is said, a hole opens in the stone which an arrow must be fired into. Hareb manages to fire the arrow, opening a portal which the warriors travel through.

Castle of Shadows Challenges (Day 19 and Day 20)[]

Day 19[]

  • Demon Patrol - The four remaining warriors arrive in the grounds of the Castle of Shadows and must construct a catapult from parts hidden in the forest nearby. However, demons of the eye patrol the castle perimeter, meaning the warriors must hide when they come close enough to see the warriors - if they get spotted, they will be eliminated.
  • Catapult Attack - After the catapult is built and ammunition is found, the warriors must use them to destroy the patrolling demons, of which there are 4. Once the demons are destroyed, the warriors collect their weapons as was advised in the journal.
  • The Gauntlet - Using the shields they collected at Demon Shields, the warriors must run along a gauntlet, dodging and deflecting missiles launched by demons. If they are hit by a missile, they will be eliminated. All of the warriors survive this challenge and make it to the castle entrance.
  • Blast Path - The warriors must enter the castle across a pathway that has been trapped with noxious gas holes. Using the weapons they collected in Catapult Attack, they must hook cylinders that hang above the path, out of their reach and place them in the holes, allowing them to cross. This challenge was a race, as the last warrior to finish filling the holes would be consumed by the gas - Lemec was slowest, therefore she was eliminated. After the challenge, Nevar appeared and locked the warriors inside the castle, where they were captured by demons of the eye.

Day 20[]

  • Break Out - The warriors must escape from the tower where they have been tied up by demons of the eye. When their guard falls asleep, they must concoct a potion from ingredients around the room and throw it on to the demons to vanquish them and escape.
  • The Force - The final three warriors must make their way across a pathway of symbols that have three on each row, only one of which is correct - if they step on an incorrect stone, they will be returned to the start of the path. They must step onto the stones at random and remember the correct sequence of symbols to get across. The first warrior to finish will earn a time advantage for the next challenge.
  • Deadly Ground - The warriors must cross an obstacle course over the cursed ground of the castle courtyard. If they touch the ground, they will be eliminated. The first warrior to cross the course will have a time advantage in the next challenge. Just as he was about to finish the course, Gydan slipped and touched the ground, meaning he was eliminated.
  • The Lair - The final two warriors, Arkil and Hareb must race up a tunnel cage, placing their hands into 4 different boxes full of creepy crawlies to find a key. The warrior who does not find the key (Hareb) is eliminated. This left Arkil to use the key to open the cage containing the Dragon's Eye (along with a number of rats) and finally grasp it.
